Hello I\u2019m Susana, welcome to my blog!<\/p>\r\n

This will be a space where I will share my ideas and experiences of teaching Portuguese, beyond borders.<\/p>\r\n

I have always enjoyed traveling, meeting new people, and by virtue of fate I ended up moving to Dubai to be closer to those I love, but also because of the challenge of cutting ties with routine and experiencing a completely different culture from mine.<\/p>\r\n

I started teaching at the GEMS International School, as a teaching assistant for IB (International Baccalaureate). I felt that I was getting stagnant, because I discovered that being Portuguese, I was not allowed to progress in my career and stand out for my work.<\/p>\r\n

I began to realize that there were many people interested in learning Portuguese for several reasons. Some to get the Golden Visa to have a Portuguese passport, others are married to Portuguese and want to learn the language. Then we still have those who want to send their children to study in Europe. And finally those who just want to join retirement in our country.<\/p>\r\n

Most of them are over 50 years old. They are amazing people, from various countries and cultures, traveling frequently, very open minded and with a huge desire to learn. I quickly found myself with a handful of fantastic students, who teach me a lot with each passing day. Everyone has a huge thirst for knowledge and makes me want to do my best daily to achieve their goals in full, but also because teaching Portuguese is a passion that moves me and makes me want to learn from them, providing them with the best learning experience possible. I can brag that so far the exam success rate, has been of 100%.<\/p>\r\n

It was then that again by fate, I had to go back to Portugal, and get away from my students, having to focus only on online classes. I say this because it is extremely complicated to communicate by video with students living in Dubai, because most apps are blocked and sometimes the internet signal is not the best either.<\/p>\r\n

Then came up with the idea of \u200b\u200bthe website \u201cLearn Portuguese with Susana\u201d (www.learnportuguesewithsusana.com<\/a>), where I present my new project of Portuguese online classes, that allows me to grow and make my work known to all interested in our language, but also to get to know our country, culture, emblematic places, but also the new spaces that emerge a little from north to south.<\/p>\r\n

I intend to use this space to share my work and experiences, and as a complement, I will also be on Facebook and Instagram, all new to me!<\/p>\r\n

Este ser\u00e1 um espa\u00e7o onde irei partilhar as minhas ideias e experi\u00eancias do ensino de portugu\u00eas, al\u00e9m-fronteiras.<\/em><\/span><\/p>\r\n

Sempre gostei de viajar, conhecer novos povos e por for\u00e7a do destino acabei por me mudar para o Dubai, para estar mais perto de quem amo, mas tamb\u00e9m pelo desafio de cortar amarras com a rotina e vivenciar uma cultura completamente diferente da minha.<\/em><\/span><\/p>\r\n

Comecei por dar aulas na Escola\u00a0 GEMS Internacional, como assistente de ensino de IB (International Baccalaureate). Senti que estava a ficar estagnada, at\u00e9 porque descobri que sendo portuguesa, n\u00e3o me permitiam progredir na carreira e poder destacar-me pelo meu trabalho.<\/em><\/span>
Comecei a perceber que havia muitos interessados em aprender portugu\u00eas, por v\u00e1rias raz\u00f5es. Uns para obterem o Golden Visa para terem passaporte portugu\u00eas, outros porque s\u00e3o casados com portugueses e querem aprender a l\u00edngua. Depois ainda temos os que pretendem enviar os filhos para estudarem na Europa. E finalmente, os que apenas querem reformar-se e vir viver para o nosso pa\u00eds.<\/em><\/span><\/p>\r\n

A maioria deles tem mais de 50 anos. S\u00e3o pessoas incr\u00edveis, de v\u00e1rios pa\u00edses e culturas, viajados, com uma mente muito aberta e uma vontade enorme de aprender. Rapidamente vi-me com uma m\u00e3o cheia de alunos fant\u00e1sticos, que me ensinam imenso a cada dia que passa. Todos t\u00eam uma sede de conhecimento enorme e fazem-me querer dar o meu melhor diariamente, para atingirem os seus objectivos em pleno, mas tamb\u00e9m porque ensinar portugu\u00eas \u00e9 uma paix\u00e3o que me move e que me faz querer aprender com eles, proporcionando-lhes a melhor experi\u00eancia de aprendizagem poss\u00edvel.<\/em><\/span>
Posso-me gabar que at\u00e9 ao momento a taxa de sucesso nos seus exames, foi de 100%.<\/em><\/span><\/p>\r\n

Foi ent\u00e3o que, novamente por for\u00e7a do destino, tive que voltar para Portugal, e afastar-me dos meus alunos, tendo que me focar apenas nas aulas online. Digo isto, porque \u00e9 extremamente complicado comunicar por v\u00eddeo com alunos a viver no Dubai, porque a maior parte das aplica\u00e7\u00f5es est\u00e3o bloqueadas e por vezes o sinal da internet, tamb\u00e9m n\u00e3o \u00e9 o melhor.<\/em><\/span><\/p>\r\n

Foi ent\u00e3o que surgiu a ideia da p\u00e1gina \u201cLearn Portuguese with Susana\u201d (www.learnportuguesewithsusana.com<\/a>) , onde apresento o meu novo projeto de aulas de portugu\u00eas online e que me permite crescer e dar a conhecer o meu trabalho a todos os interessados na nossa l\u00edngua, mas tamb\u00e9m para ficarem a conhecer o nosso pa\u00eds, cultura, locais emblem\u00e1ticos, mas tamb\u00e9m os novos espa\u00e7os que surgem um pouco de norte a sul.<\/em><\/span>
Pretendo usar este espa\u00e7o como partilha do meu trabalho e experi\u00eancias, e como complemento, tamb\u00e9m estarei no Facebook e Instagram, tudo uma novidade para mim!<\/em><\/span><\/p>\r\n
